A Church and Community Gathering Place

The Union Congregational Church of Ward was formed in 1894, and the building built in 1896. Today it’s used and loved by the whole community as both a church, operating in the United Church of Christ tradition, and as a community gathering place, hosting meetings, parties, wedddings, community celebrations and memorials, and just people wanting to sing in its awesome acoustics.
This year, 2019, is the 125th anniversary of its founding and we are celebrating that this fall. Please keep in touch.

Also we are fundraising for continuing our renovation work. In 2017 we received a grant from the State Historical Society to assess our building and begin planning for its renovation. In 2018 we received a grant to accomplish 3 structural goals – to remove the rock debris from behind the building and build a retaining wall, to pull the slightly bowed walls of the church back into vertical alignment, and to shore up the foundation at the front, where it was sagging. These goals have been accomplished.

Our next step is to take care of the windows, repair the bell tower and other places and to paint the exterior. This is what we’re raising funds for now.

Please show your love for a beautiful old building that continues to serve its community with distinction and donate, any amount large or small is welcome. We are a 501(c)3 organization and if you give us your mailing address we will provide a thank you with the amount to use on your taxes.
